Vadall

Vadall are a race of bipedal beastmen. They resemble a cross between a large feline and a canine on two legs. While the three subraces (‘rinn, ‘kani, and ‘urus) are distinct in appearance and size, they share many common traits. They prefer a hunched over pose when standing and moving around, making them appear smaller than they actually are. While running or marching long distances they will often move on all fours. All vadall have horns, most commonly two sets, but individuals with one or three sets are not uncommon, with ears set behind the primary set of horns.

They have short fur, with color and patterns varying between individuals and subraces. Their sharp claws and teeth can be used as weapons (use stats for daggers), and are often used instead of knives for general tasks, but they prefer using weapons to fight. There is very little visible difference between male and female vadall, except during pregnancy, and non-Vadall must have at least one rank in Knowledge (nature, social or monster) to tell the difference between genders.

Vadall are proud warriors and traders. In the past they traveled from their northern homelands throughout the world, raiding, pillaging, and in the end setting up trading outposts. Over centuries Vadall have become the most common race throughout the world. Today they walk all walks of life, though most of them still retain a sense of pride and honor. One mist be careful when dealing with them, as they have little tolerance for weakness and deception, and tend to take insults very seriously. While they do not often back away from a fight, they are not stupid and will retreat when clearly overpowered, only to regroup and strike back when conditions favor them. That Vadall quality have been a downfall of many of their enemies.

Vadall are a long living race. They normally reach physical maturity at about 20 years old, though they are not considered adults until about 30 or 40 years old, depending on local cultural standards. Once they reach adulthood they seem to are very slowly, living anywhere between 200 and 250 years before their age catches up with them. At that point their body deteriorates pretty quickly, rarely living longer than 5 years. This makes the overall lifespan of Vadall anywhere between 250 and 300 years.

Vadall’rinn
These are the the smallest of the vadall, standing between four and four and a half feet tall normally, or about six feet tall when standing straight. They have short, triangular muzzles, reminiscent of weasels and martens, small round ears, and relatively short, thick tails. They have either one or two sets of horns, but never three. Their fur ranges in colors from black to brown and reddish brown, with throat and chest patterns ranging between yellowish orange to white. These patterns are unique to each individual, and are always lighter in color than the rest of the body. Many individuals also have the belly fur color on the ends of their tails and hands and feet. Some will have facial patterns, but those individuals are pretty rare.
